Why become a foster carer?Foster | Why become a foster carer?

Change a child’s life – and yours – for the better.

When you foster a child with us, it changes everything: a child’s life, their outlook, their future. But it also changes our community for the better. And it will transform your life too. In fact, our carers usually say that becoming a foster carer is the most rewarding experience of their lives.

There’s a child that needs you

Every day, we discover five more Aboriginal children who need out-of-home care. Sometimes, they only need a safe home for days or weeks, but others need a long-term home and a nurturing environment in which to live and grow.

If you have love to give, you have what it takes

You don’t need any qualifications to become a foster carer, and you don’t need to be from an Aboriginal background to join our growing community of carers. In fact, our carers come from all walks of life. All you need is room in your heart and home.

We’ll give you all the practical support and guidance you need, including:

  • A dedicated case manager
  • Ongoing accredited training
  • Ongoing professional and peer support
  • Emotional, wellbeing and cultural support
  • Ongoing financial support
