Yorganop will pursue excellence in supporting Aboriginal families throughout Western Australia to ensure a better future for Aboriginal children and young people.
Our mission
At Yorganop we work alongside Aboriginal families to enhance the well-being of Aboriginal children and young people. We are committed to keeping families together by offering support and assistance to ensure safe and nurturing environments are provided for all Aboriginal children and young people to grow strong in themselves and in their culture and ensuring that all Aboriginal children in care and in childcare centres have access to qualified Carers, Aboriginal staff and support workers.
Our Goals
To work collaboratively with the Aboriginal community and with Government and other agencies to provide services in Western Australia which:
- promote capacity building for the Aboriginal community, through ensuring the well-being and development of children, families, and individuals.
- promote best practice in parenting in Out of Home Care and early years program
- protect children and young people physically, socially, emotionally and culturally within the spirit of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle.
- promote access and opportunity for all Aboriginal children regardless of location and circumstance to culturally appropriate child care
- promote and support culturally appropriate training programs for the Aboriginal community regardless of location and circumstance
- provide high quality, flexible and innovative professional development and support that is targeted to meet the identified local needs of Aboriginal children and their families.
- facilitate access to, and/or provide professional support, advice and training for managing bodies of eligible Aboriginal child care services and their staff.
- provide training and material customised to meet the needs of Aboriginal community members and delivered/facilitated in a flexible model.
